Mississippi’s unemployment rate has reached a record low for the fourth straight month, announced by Gov. Tate Reeves Friday morning.
For the month of June, Mississippi reported an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent, making it one of 11 states to see a drop over the 30-day period.
“Reaching an all-time low unemployment rate four months in a row is an incredible accomplishment for Mississippi,” Reeves said. “It goes to show you just how much momentum our state has. Whether it’s education or the economy, Mississippi continues to set records and make state history. Our conservative approach to managing Mississippi is working.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment rates were stable in the other 39 states and Washington, D.C. The national unemployment rate of 3.6 percent has changed minimally over the last year.
Mississippi has now seen record lows in unemployment rates for the last four months, reporting 3.5 percent in March, 3.4 percent in April, and 3.2 percent in May. The state has seen an overall year-over-year decrease of .6 percent.
