The Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) has been honored as one of the “Top 10 Favorite Domestic Airports of 2023” by Travel + Leisure.
The results were derived from Travel + Leisure’s “The World’s Best Awards 2023” survey, which was conducted from October 24, 2022, through February 27, 2023.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire team and the many partners at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport,” Rosa M. Beckett, JMAA Chief Executive Officer, said. “We do not take our goal to ‘Be the Airport of Choice’ lightly and are working closely with our airlines and other airport partners to enhance facilities, amenities, and accessibility to provide the best in customer experiences here at JAN.”
The survey asked readers to rate their favorite domestic airports based on key criteria such as access, check-in/security, restaurants/bars, shopping, and design.
With a focus on convenience, including short security lines, abundant parking, and easy-to-navigate terminals, JAN received dozens of votes and secured the 10th position on the list.
JAN currently houses several restaurants that offer locally-flavored cuisines and beverages, including Riverbanks Bar & Grill, SunRise Café, and Samuel Adams Jackson Brewhouse.
At this time, Delta Air Lines is celebrating 94 years in Jackson and operates up to six daily flights to the world’s number one hub airport of Atlanta.
Southwest Airlines returned to JAN in 2021 and now flies up to seven flights daily to Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Houston, and weekend flights to Orlando.
American Airlines has increased service to their Dallas/Ft. Worth and Charlotte hubs and will continue offering a nonstop flight to the nation’s capital airport, Washington-Reagan National. In total, American has up to nine daily flights on peak days.
United currently operates three daily flights to Houston-Bush, which offers connections to six continents from there.
