JACKSON, MISS– If you’re looking for Mississippi produce, just picked and ready for your table, there’s an app for that. The Mississippi Farmer’s Market app.
Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Cindy Hyde-Smith says the app is for anyone looking for local, healthy produce from the farmer’s that push Mississippi’s economy.
“It just makes sense,” says Hyde-Smith about the app, “we live by that thing in our purse or on our waist, there’s an app for everything.”
Hyde-Smith says this app gives you directions to your nearest Farmer’s Market, and their hours of operation, but the app is more than just a navigator.
“We call it ‘What’s Fresh This Week,'” says Hyde-Smith, “it lets you know the freshest items of the week, and about the vendors who are selling them.”
Hyde-Smith says the app is also a wonderful tool when it comes to meal-planning and shopping for local produce; even if you’re trying to watch your figure.
“For families that are busy, but conscious about what they put in their mouths, or their families’ mouths, this app is great for that.” says Hyde-Smith, “because it’s all in one place, and has all the facts there.”
Not only does the app also sport a shopping list function to plan for your next trip, it also lets you know what restaurants are using local produce in your meals.
To download the app for your smartphone, search for it in the Apple or Android App store, or visit www.msfarmersmarket.com for the QR code for the app.
