A new candidate has been introduced to the 2024 U.S. Senate race in Mississippi.
State Representative Dan Eubanks, R-Walls, took to social media on Independence Day to announce that he will be challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Roger Wicker in the 2024 primary elections.
“I still believe in this great republic. I’m still proud to identify as a patriot, and I’m still willing to fight and die for the freedoms and liberties that you and I enjoy and hold so dear,” Eubanks stated. “This upcoming presidential and congressional election will be one of the most important you and I participate in. It is our future and freedoms that are at stake. I need you. You need me, and our country needs us both.”
Eubanks, who faces no opposition for his current seat in the 2023 elections, is running on the platform of cutting taxes, championing pro-life causes, protecting religious liberties, and securing the southern border.
The DeSoto County lawmaker accuses the incumbent senator of being an “establishment politician” who has undermined efforts to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the nation while also voting to allocate taxpayer funds to Planned Parenthood clinics.
“I know it’s a David versus Goliath scenario, but I also know ultimately who controls the outcome and delivers the battle,” Eubanks added. “I’m not owned by special interests. I can’t raise millions of dollars at the drop of a hat like my opponent, but what I can do is fight and fight for you.”
In 2007, Wicker was appointed to his position in the chamber by former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour following the resignation of Trent Lott. Wicker has since won two elections to secure his senate seat.
