Bond has been set for the man accused of shooting and killing two individuals just blocks away from the annual Hal’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Jackson in late March.
Jordan Kyle Cummins, 27, of Florence was arrested two months ago after he reportedly shot and killed two individuals: Joshua Spann, 27, and Jubilee Simpkins, 23.
Cummins reportedly killed Spann and Simpkins after they stepped in to intervene during an ongoing domestic dispute. The incident took place on Jefferson Street in front of the Mississippi Fairgrounds.
Cummins claimed self-defense during his initial court appearance but was denied bond and ruled a flight risk.
A video surfaced days after the shootings, showing Cummins bragging about the killings from jail.
“Free me, man. You walk up on me, and I’m going to bust your [expletive],” Cummins is heard saying in the video. “It’s real, man. I know it looks sweet, but [expletive] ain’t sweet, man. Two dead.”
Now, a Hinds County judge has set Cummins’ bond at $250,000 for each count of first-degree murder.
According to Judge Faye Peterson, Cummins will not be subject to electronic monitoring but will be required to abide by a curfew.
A trial date has not been released at this time.
