With the school year just around the corner, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is offering free walk-in immunization clinics across the state to ensure children are up to date on required school vaccinations.
The MSDH has opened back-to-school clinics in Hinds and Rankin counties with clinics at all 82 county health departments expected to open soon.
The Hinds County Health Department, located at 350 W. Woodrow Wilson Avenue in Jackson, will hold walk-in hours every Tuesday and Wednesday in June and July from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
The Rankin County Health Department, located at 401 Parkway Drive in Pearl, will open its walk-in immunization clinic for one day only on Friday, June 23 from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
To make the process both efficient and quick, the MSDH is asking parents to bring their child’s immunization records to the clinic. The MSDH, through its online portal, will then provide an updated Form 121 (shot record), which will be needed for school registration.
Certain vaccinations are required for first-time school entry and seventh-grade entry in Mississippi. For information on immunization requirements or medical exemptions for school entry, click here.
