Larry Parker has resigned from his position as board president at Pontotoc Electric following his arrest for having sex in public places along the Natchez Trace.
Parker was taken into custody last Wednesday for indecent exposure as part of a sting operation targeting people who like to have sex with others in public places along the federal parkway.
“We’ve had a long-term problem with people engaging in illicit sexual activity in the public areas of the parkway,” Park Ranger John Hearne told WTVA. “There’s a fairly distinct subculture that looks to engage in these kinds of activities.”
According to Hearne, undercover park rangers will go to various locations known for illicit activities and will see if anyone there will try to offer sexual favors for money.
Parker, who was re-elected to the Pontotoc Electric board in 2022, is charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.
As a result of Parker’s resignation, current vice president Terry Chunn has been elected to serve as the company’s new board president.
Pontotoc Electric has yet to respond to a request for comment from SuperTalk Mississippi News at this time.
