Shane Quick has taken his name out of the race for lieutenant governor, leaving just three candidates competing for the spot in the Republican primary.
Quick officially withdrew from the race last week, according to paperwork filed with state GOP officials and the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office.
The DeSoto County native also requested for his campaign finance account — which contained $101 in donated funds — to be terminated.
In 2019, Quick garnered 14 percent of votes during the primary elections for lieutenant governor, with incumbent Delbert Hosemann bringing in 85 percent of the ballots.
Republican candidates currently vying for the position of lieutenant governor include State Senator Chris McDaniel, Tiffany Longino, and Hosemann.
The candidate who receives the majority of votes in the GOP primary will then run against Democrat Ryan Grover on November 7.
