For the second year in a row, the Southern Miss baseball team is heading to a super regional.
The No. 2 seed Golden Eagles defeated No. 4 seed Pennsylvania 11-7 Tuesday afternoon to claim the Auburn Regional. Southern Miss, who won four in a row after dropping game one to Samford, is just the 28th team since 1999 to win a regional after losing in the opening round.

Southern Miss was led by a big performance from Dustin Dickerson, who broke the tie in a 5-5 ball game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a three-run shot over the left field fence. The Quakers clawed their way back within one in the top of the seventh before Carson Paetow provided some cushion for the Golden Eagles in the bottom of the eighth with a two-RBI double off the top of the wall.
Billy Oldham (8-3), who pitched three scoreless innings in relief, was credited with the win while Ryan Dromboski (7-3) took home the loss. Will Armistead recorded his first save of the season.
Next up for the Golden Eagles will be a super-regional matchup against Tennessee. The location and dates will be released Tuesday at 9 a.m. CT.
