ATTALA COUNTY, MISS– When Jasmine Irwin, just over one year-old was brought to UMMC in Jackson, her mother, Tami Mann, told the doctor she had fallen down the stairs.
Police didn’t buy that story. Jasmine’s skull was broken, she had swelling on her brain, bruises, and burns on her feet, says the coroner.
After an investigation by DHS, the Attala County Sheriff’s Department and the coroner, it was determined that Jasmine died of blunt force trauma. Mann was arrested, and later charged with capital murder.
There were four other children between Mann and Jasper Irwin, Jasmine’s father. The are now in foster care.
