Two additional counties in Mississippi are now eligible for FEMA assistance following last week’s severe weather and tornadoes, which impacted thousands of residents throughout the state.
At this time, individuals and households affected by the storms in Montgomery and Panola Counties can now apply for FEMA Individual Assistance, which may include temporary housing assistance, basic home repairs, and certain other uninsured disaster-related needs.
Other counties that have already been eligible to apply for Individual Assistance include Carroll, Humphreys, Monroe, and Sharkey.
Nearly 2,000 homes in 12 counties received damage ranging from minimal to destroyed, with residents in Monroe County receiving the majority of the destruction from two EF-3 tornadoes.
Survivors can apply for disaster assistance at disasterassistance.gov, by using the FEMA mobile app, or by calling 800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT.
If you use a relay service such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service, or others, give FEMA the number for that service.
MEMA is also encouraging residents who can report their damage using MEMA’s Self-Report Tool.
