A Mississippi man could be facing up to 160 years in prison for drug distribution near a local church.
Over the past two months, the Richland Police Department’s FLEX Unit conducted an investigation into a suspect who was allegedly distributing methamphetamine-laced pills within city limits.
43-year-old John Edward Jones, a Brandon native, was arrested after narcotics investigators conducted multiple controlled purchases of the meth-laced pills from Jones over the span of the past two years.
According to Richland Police, Jones distributed the narcotics within 1500 feet of a local church each time, which is a cause for enhancing penalties.
Jones, a two-time convicted felon for prior drug charges, faces four charges of trafficking controlled substances. If convicted of all charges, Jones faces a minimum of 40 years in prison and could possibly be sentenced to 160 years behind bars.
