Hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg has added a new vehicle with Mississippi ties to his notorious collection.
The famous star, known for his music as well as his affinity for vintage cars, spotted a 1970 Buick Skylark in Gulfport and decided to claim it as his own.
Before taking the vintage classic home, Snoop Dogg sent a direct message to the Instagram account of auto-customizer Spokes-N-Vogues in Huntsville, Ala. to have his car designed.
“Snoop reached out to me because he heard about that car in Mississippi,” Lee Adams with Spokes-N-Vogues told Magnolia State Live. “His family are all from Mississippi. This whole thing is reaching out to the deep southern states.”
Spokes-N-Vogues collaborated with Barnes Signs, a Madison, Ala.-based business, to ensure that the hip-hop mogul’s vehicle was of the highest of qualities.
The wrap for Snoop’s Skylark was done in a color called tangerine orange chrome. Barnes Signs added the name of Snoop Dogg’s 1998 album “Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told” in neon letters upon opening the trunk of the vehicle.
According to Adams, the process of customizing the Skylark took roughly a year and four months. Not only did the car need a customized chrome wrap, it also required interior and mechanical maintenance. Nevertheless, Adams considers it a once-in-a-lifetime project.
