Brandon native and current New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis has been named to his first-ever Pro Bowl.
Davis, a team captain in his eleventh NFL season and fifth with New Orleans, leads the Saints with 89 total tackles and 6.5 sacks in 2022.
“It’s awesome,” New Orleans head coach Dennis Allen said via the Saints’ official website. “I think it’s kind of a long time coming. He’s been a great part of what we’ve been able to do here over the last four or five years, been a great addition to our organization. Works extremely hard, great in the community, really the type of player that we’re looking for, so I’m glad to see that he gets recognized for that.”
While this is Davis’ first Pro Bowl selection – which partially relies on fan votes – the Brandon High School graduate has been named to three All-Pro teams. Over the course of his career, he’s compiled 1,116 total tackles, 36 sacks, and three interceptions.
The Saints (5-9), who are still in the hunt for a playoff spot amid a weak NFC South, play the Cleveland Browns (6-8) on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
