The Jackson Veterans Affairs (VA) Regional Office is holding a four-day event to assist those who have served and their families learn more about career opportunities and healthcare benefits.
From November 1 through November 4, the Mississippi Economic Development Initiative (EDI) meeting will give the opportunity for veterans, transitioning service members, spouses, family, and caregivers to learn more about job opportunities, VA health care, and benefits; and meet with VA claim representatives.
Meetings will be held in person for two days and virtually for two days. The schedule and locations of each meeting are:
November 1 – Virtual presentations. Tentative schedule.
November 2 – Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
November 3 – Washington County Convention Center in Greenville. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
November 4 – Virtual presentations. Tentative schedule.
“We are here to help you achieve your career goals, find economic success, and maintain your physical and mental well-being throughout your military life-cycle,” Wendy Torres, Jackson VA Regional Office director said. “The Jackson VA is thrilled to be the host facility for this four-day event.”
Registration is free and can be filled out here. Registrants must apply for each day’s event separately if they wish to attend multiple meetings.
VA established EDIs in July 2018 to provide disadvantaged transitioning Service members and Veterans with opportunities to achieve economic success and total well-being as they advance from military service to civilian life. The goal of the EDIs is to create a comprehensive and strategic approach to policy, programs, and services to encourage community-wide economic development.
