The Seattle Seahawks have signed former Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf to a three-year, $72 million contract extension.
When discussing the extension on Friday, Metcalf found himself getting emotional about what he’ll now be able to do for his hometown of Oxford.
“Just coming from Oxford all the way over here to Seattle has been a long journey. I’m about to get emotional, so bear with me,” Metcalf said before taking a deep breath. “It really hasn’t hit me until now that I’ll have the opportunity to help so many people back home and help my family.”

Since his arrival to the NFL, Metcalf has accounted for 3,168 yards and 29 touchdowns. Metcalf, along with his former Ole Miss teammate and Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown, are now two of the highest paid wide receivers in the league at sixth and fifth, respectively.
