VICKSBURG, Miss. — The man charged with the abduction, rape and murder of a 69-year-old Vicksburg woman remains behind bars. Bond was denied Wednesday for Rafael McCloud, 33.
Investigators said he and his nephew, Akeem McCloud abducted Sharen Wilson, raped her and dumped her body at an abandoned hospital. The two were arrested in Leland after being pulled over for careless driving in Wilson’s car. Rafael McCloud was charged with sexual battery, rape, possession of a weapon after felony conviction, grand larceny, arson, home invasion and burglary.
Akeem McCloud did not appear in court Wednesday. Police said his case is still under investigation.
