A Mississippi State Trooper was enjoying his workout on Monday night at a south Memphis fitness center when his car was broken into.
According to WREG, two cars were targeted, one of which was the trooper’s personal vehicle. Once the burglars popped the lock, they stole his Glock 21.45 caliber handgun along with his Mississippi State Trooper badge and Mississippi State Trooper ID.
Officials also told the TV station that surveillance video showed a white Chevy Silverado pulling up and a man getting out and breaking into the two vehicles.
Mayor Jim Strickland has recently been adamant about people properly securing their guns as more than 1,300 guns were stolen from cars in Memphis in 2021.
