COLUMBUS, Miss– There’s a place for kids who have no where else to go, right here in Mississippi. Palmer Home provides a home, education, and positive reinforcement for children from all situations.
“Some kids come from physical abuse, sexual abuse, parental neglect,” says Robert Farris, with Palmer Home, “those are the horror stories. Some parents just can’t take care of their children for financial reasons.”
Whatever the reason, children come to Palmer Home for a secure place that can provide all their basic needs, plus the extras that enrich a child’s life.
Farris says a huge portion of that enrichment comes from the house parents, the men and women who live in the cottages with the children. Each cottage has seven or eight kids.
“House parents are the hardest to hire,” says Farris, “we always need house parents. You don’t think that you’ll be a house parent at Palmer Home when you grow up. You don’t go to school to be a house parent.”
But Palmer Home needs volunteers, donations, supplies, and support in order to provide these children with the lives they deserve. Information on how you can help at http://palmerhome.org/
