JACKSON, Miss.- The viral overnight sensation who took the internet by storm in his eccentric account of wreck that happened earlier this week, has been arrested. Courtney Barnes is his name, and he was interviewed by local media outlets on Monday regarding a car crash that involved a Jackson Police Officer.
Ridgeland Police told WLBT that Barnes had racked up around $1,600 in fines, mostly in traffic violations. He will also be dealing with contempt of court charges.
WAPT reported that Barnes turned himself in to the police department, as he walked through the doors to pay some fines, when they arrested him.
It hasn’t been confirmed that Barnes stole from Swell-O-Phonic in Fondren, but they say he resembles a suspect in the surveillance video.
During an interview with WAPT, Barnes denied being a shoplifting suspect.
