Halloween is just days away, and if you go trick or treating at Mike Leach’s house, don’t expect to find any candy corn.
Mississippi State routed Vanderbilt Saturday night in Nashville, so during his postgame interview on the SEC Network, the more pressing questions pertained to the unconventional head coach’s candy preferences.
Candy corn was recently found to be Mississippi’s most popular Halloween candy, but Leach left no doubt which side of that debate he’s on.
“I completely hate candy corn,” he said.

As for what he does enjoy, Leach mentioned his admiration for gummy bears, Sprees and praised the “candy innovation” that led to the creation of ‘Nerds gummy clusters,’ but he did note that America is being outpaced by Europe in that department.
“There’s still candy innovation, although, a while back, I found that Europe has better candy than us overall because they have gummy everything,” Leach said.
In the chocolate category, Leach favors the often-maligned Almond Joy.
The Bulldogs moved to 4-3 with their win over Vanderbilt and return to Starkville to face Kentucky the night before Halloween.
