BYHALIA, Miss.–A wreck about six o’clock Sunday morning in Marshall County killed two Tennessee high school students. Rachel Lynch and Maddies Kruse, both 17, died, while Kara Holden and Caroline Kam, also students at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, were injured and are in the hospital.
The two injured girls were expected to recover.
The driver of the other car, Melandus Penson, of Marshall County, was charged with two counts of DUI death and two counts of DUI injury. He’s still in jail in Marshall County.
WMC TV reports that the Marshall County Sheriff’s Dept. confirmed Penson had been arrested before on a DUI charge and may have had other recent arrests.
The wreck happened on Hwy. 78, near the DeSoto County line. Lynch was killed at the scene of the wreck, while Kruse died at the hospital in Olive Branch. Penson was set to be in court at 9 a.m. Monday.
