JACKSON, Miss.–Afternoon pop-up type thunderstorms could happen both Saturday and Sunday, so include that in your weekend plans. The best chances of storms are above I-20, and some of the storms could be on the strong side.
“I wouldn’t completely consider it a washout cause it’s gonna be a summertime like pattern, but we will have a good amount of rain and thunderstorms around,” said David Cox, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Central and north Mississippi had a 70 percent chance of storms for the afternoon.
South Mississippi had a 50/50 shot.
“Couldn’t rule out this time of year a strong storm or two and an isolated severe thunderstorm,” said Cox.
