Governor Tate Reeves has extended Mississippi’s ‘State of Emergency’ order for another 30 days.
Originally set to end in August, the governor first extended the order in the midst of the Delta surge as cases and hospitalizations were at all-time highs.
While the state has seen some stabilization in recent days, indicators remain well above previous peaks. The extension will assist in the continued flow of resources throughout the state.
“This extension will ease the process of marshalling additional resources for the state’s response, allow its system of care to continue to transfer patients to hospitals where treatment is available, ensure expanded access to telemedicine, and keep options open for use of the Mississippi National Guard,” Governor Reeves said.
He ended his statement by clarifying, “once again, there will be no lockdowns or statewide mandates.”
