Following the recent resignation of Mississippi Development Authority executive director John Rounsaville, Governor Tate Reeves has appointed an interim leader for the agency.
The governor announced on social media that Laura Hipp will serve as the interim director of the agency that is tasked with recruiting new businesses to the state while also retaining and expanding Mississippi industries and businesses.
“My confidence in her to execute my vision will lead to economic growth & continue Mississippi’s momentum,” Governor Reeves said in a tweet.
Hipp has served as the chief marketing officer & a senior adviser at MDA since Reeves took office. She was also the communications director for Reeves during his time at Lt. Governor.
Shortly after Rounsaville resigned, it was revealed that he did so as the result of an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations.
