Monday, Tate County dispatchers received a call from the Panola County Sheriff’s Office stating an individual had called them reporting that deputies and the coroner were needed at an address on Tate-Panola Road because he (the caller) had shot his daughter.
Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance said the dispatcher was able to get the caller on the line and obtain information including the address of the incident as 8427 Tate-Panola Road. When the first deputy arrived on scene, a man later identified as 71-year-old Forrest J. Mouton immediately surrendered.
Once inside the home, deputies found one woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Another female relative who was inside the house was uninjured. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Carol Mouton Rayam of Senatobia.
Forrest J. Mouton has been charged with First Degree Murder and is currently being held in the Tate County Jail without bond.
