Hinds County Sheriff Lee Vance has passed away at the age of 63.
According to the department, Sheriff Vance was non-responsive when medical personnel arrived at his home this morning around 11:00 a.m and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner has been dispatched to the residence. At this time no cause of death has been revealed.
Vance had recently tested positive for COVID-19. Reports have stated that the sheriff was fully vaccinated.
A former chief of the Jackson Police Department, Vance was elected sheriff in 2019. Follwoing the news of Vance’s passing, tributes have been posted on social media throughout the day.
