WINONA, Miss. – A naked Yazoo City man, believed to have been high on drugs, is facing charges after investigators said he attacked a Montgomery County sheriff deputy, stole his patrol car and crashed it.
William Mann, 27, is charged with three counts of simple assault on law enforcement, grand larceny, attempted grand larceny and felony malicious mischief.
Investigators said around 12:30 am Sunday, a resident stopped the deputy and reported that a naked man was walking in the area. When the deputy found Mann, he said Mann ran towards his patrol car, jumped on the hood and then onto the deputy’s back. During a struggle, Mann was tased twice, but continued to fight. State troopers arrived and Mann was tased again before he eventually stole the patrol car, hit several signs and crashed into a Winona business. Still refusing to surrender, detectives said Mann got out of the wrecked vehicle and tried to steal a truck that was nearby. But before he could get away, the deputy and two state troopers managed to arrest him.
Detectives said blood tests showed Mann had cocaine, meth and marijuana in his system at the time of his arrest.
