School Bus Wrecks on Morning Route

STARKVILLE, Miss.- A school bus carrying seven children was in a wreck early Tuesday morning in Starkville. At around 7:30 a.m., Susie Gray was driving her morning route east on Highway 12 when she a truck hit her bus.

Starkville School District Transportation Director Kelvin Gibson says that the truck came around and hit the front tire and bumper of her bus as she was trying to make a left-hand turn onto Old Highway 12.

“It was reported to me that the truck flipped over four times, throwing the driver of the truck out of the vehicle,” Gibson told News Mississippi. “When I arrived on the scene, we had seven students, six middle school and one high school, and the driver.”

The school bus was en route to Armstrong Middle School, and then Starkville High School. Gibson added that none of the students were injured, but the driver, Ms. Gray, was having some neck pain, so she was taken to the emergency room, along with the driver of the pickup truck. She was released later that morning from the hospital.
