FORREST COUNTY, Miss. –The four suspects charged in the shooting deaths of two Hattiesburg police officers remain at the Forrest County jail after they each made their initial appearances in court Monday afternoon.
Marvin Banks, 29, who is believed to have shot officers Liquori Tate and Benjamin Deen, is charged with two counts of capital murder, possession of a weapon and grand larceny auto. His bond was denied on the murder charges and set at $100,000 each on the other two counts.
Curtis Banks, who is believed to have helped Banks after the murders, is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder. His bond was set at $100, 0000. However, his previous bond on a drug possession charge from 2013 was revoked.
Bonds were set at $75,000 each for the remaining suspects; Cornelius Clark for obstruction of justice and hindering prosecution; and Joanie Calloway on one count of accessory after the fact.
Tate and Deen were shot during a routine traffic stop Sunday night. A preliminary autopsy report released Monday afternoon showed one was shot in the back, and the other in the face. Both men died at Forrest General Hospital.
