PONTOTOC, Miss.–Raping a 14-year-old girl who was under psychiatric care is the charge against Alshunte Bowen, 34, of Houston. The rape happened last year at a facility in Pontotoc where Bowen worked as a unit coordinator, said Atty. Gen. Jim Hood’s office.
The facility treats adolescents in need of psychiatric care, and Bowen was entrusted with that care, said Hood. The charge is sexual battery by a person in a position of trust.
Bowen was indicted by the Pontotoc County grand jury and arrested this week. He posted a $50,000 bond and is out of jail.
Bowen could get 30 years if he is convicted.
