Three Arrested after High-Speed Chase and Standoff

GULFPORT, Miss.- Three people were arrested over the weekend after a high-speed chase and 45 minute standoff on I-10.

The car drove off to the road into a muddy median while a passenger held a gun to his own mouth.

The Sun Herald reports that the man first said he was going to kill himself or make police kill him, but police say he surrendered peacefully after nearly 45 minutes Sunday morning.

Eighteen officers from four different agencies were involved in the chase and standoff.

Capt. John Luther of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office told the Sun Herald, the chase began after Gulfport and Hancock County officers identified the vehicle as a possible getaway car in an armed robbery earlier at a Long Beach gas station.

Timothy Smith, 31, Devin Holt, 27, and Jessie Gibbons, 23, all of Pensacola, Fla., were each arrested on a charge of armed robbery.
