The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 905 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s report — the 7th out of the last 8 days over 900 — brings the state’s total up to 135,803. With the confirmation of 36 additional deaths, 3,581 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
As cases continue to rise, hospitalizations are rising as well.
As of Monday, an estimated 116,683 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
Tuesday, Governor Tate Reeves announced the addition of seven counties to his “Safe Recovery” order, bringing the total up to 22 counties that are under the mask mandate and stricter social distancing guidelines.
Benton, Carroll, Covington, DeSoto, Forrest, Harrison, Hinds, Humphreys, Itawamba, Jackson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Leflore, Lee, Madison, Marshall, Montgomery, Pontotoc, Rankin, Tate, Winston, Yalobusha.
In these counties, indoor social gatherings are limited to 10 people or less and outdoor social gatherings are limited to 50. Masks are required while indoors and when social distancing is not possible.
