Heads Up: Severe Weather Possible Today, Thursday and Friday

JACKSON, Miss.–Even though rain chances are relatively low, any storms that do develop this evening could end up being severe. The National Weather Service said Wednesday morning that there could also be some rough stuff Thursday and Friday.

“Over the next several days there be at least some area that will be under the potential for severe storms,” said Mike Edmunston, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

The biggest threat for today is from a line from Jackson to Greenville and mainly south of that and west of Interstate 55.

“That’ll include damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail.”

Edmunston said the ground is still saturated in some areas, which could make for some local flash flooding and perhaps some additional river flooding.

He said a more potent storm system will be coming in Friday and Friday night, meaning the potential for even more severe weather exists into SDaturday.
