Dispute Over Furniture Results in Man Being Shot

BENNDALE, Miss.- Police have charged a man in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon. 24-year-old Phillip Anthony Bergerson has been charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling, according to George County Sheriff Dean Howell.

The incident happened at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, when the men were arguing over some furniture. Apparently the conversation grew worse, and Bergerson left the home on Dogwood Drive, only to return and shoot the victim, 32-year-old David George White, hitting him once in the arm.

Authorities said that White had been in a long-term relationship with Bergerson’s mother.

White was transferred to University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Bergeson is still awaiting an initial court appearance, staying in the George County Regional Jail.
