ELLISVILLE, Miss. – A Jones County woman has been arrested after detectives said she lied about being kidnapped and raped.
Leshia Ashmore, 51, told police that she was at an Ellisville convenient store when someone with a gun forced her into a car, drove to an unknown location and raped her. After an extensive investigation, Jones County and Ellisville law officers said it was a waste of their money and resources, because Ashmore’s allegations were not true. She has been charged with filing a false police report. Both the Jones County Sheriff and Ellisville Police departments are seeking restitution. And if convicted Ashmore could also be sentenced to a year in jail.
