JACKSON, Miss.- Attorney General Jim Hood made the announcement Tuesday.
30-year-old Jackson resident Brandon Jerrall Jernigan was sentenced by Hinds County Circuit Court Judge William Gowan on Monday to 20 years (10 to serve, 10 suspended) with five years post-release supervision for stabbing another inmate while incarcerated.
The assault happened at the Hinds County Detention Center, where Jernigan and four others (all pre-trial detainees) stabbed another pre-trial detainee 27 times, but the victim survived and was even able to identify the suspects.
