Keeping Your Kids Safe: Accused Child Pornography Collector To Stay in Jail For Now

LAUREL, Miss.–Accused of having a large collection of child pornography that was found on home computers and other devices, Mark Twain May, 55, of Laurel, will stay in jail at least until a forensic examination of all his devices is done.

May was arrested earlier this month after agents with the Dept. oh Homeland Security detected he was commenting on sexually explicit pictures of kids on the internet.

The investigation started in October and agents were able to trace his avatar back to a Gmail account and Facebook page. Those agents testified in court Wednesday.

So far, more than 200 images and videos have been found and investigators are still looking. The judge said he believed May was a risk to the community and said Wednesday that May would have to stay in the lockup, at least until all of the images and videos had been found and recovered.

May may have also had an inappropriate chat with a 14-year-old boy. His court appearance Wednesday was a hearing, not a trial.
