LUCEDALE, Miss. – A traffic stop took down nearly 100 pounds of high priced marijuana and the man who had the load, which is estimated to have a street level value of $80,000.
Marquez “Alex” Carmona, 38, was arrested March 2 after a foot race to escape the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotic Agents who said drugs were found in his car. But the investigation didn’t stop once Carmona was caught. Agents, two days later, searched Marcus Daniels’ home where they took out of it six weapons and more than $4,800 in cash.
Carmona is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Daniels,33, is charged with conspiracy to receive a controlled substance and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Both men are behind bars under $500,000 cash bonds.
“This is a complex, ongoing investigation with more arrest expected,” said MBI Director Sam Owens.
