Trade Icy and Cold for Warmer and Wetter, Mississippi Weather Pattern Changes This Weekend

JACKSON, Miss.–Mississippi’s normal highs this time of year are in the 60s and normal lows are in the 40s.By Sunday, you might actually see normal temperatures. But with that comes rain and it may be quite a bit of it.

Friday’s highs are expected at 35 north, 42 central and near 50 south. It warms up about ten degrees for Saturday and stays nice and sunny.

“With that increase in moisture, looks like rain chances will be back for Sunday,” said Mike Edmunston, National Weather Service meteorologist. “There will be a few incidences in the afternoon, especially in the southwest, where there could be some thunder.”

Edmunston pointed out that Mississippians have not heard thunder in a while, with all the wintry weather.

Edmunston said the rainy weather should stay around for Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday there will be a stronger front that could give us some severe weather.

“The warmest day of the period looks like Tuesday. Even the northern portions of the area could get into the 70s.”

He said central and south may reach the mid 70s.
