Afroman man is giving up performing in front of live audiences. The rapper and Mississippi native announced his decision just one week after punching a female fan on stage at concert in Biloxi on Fat Tuesday.
He was charged with simple assault and is free on bail. In a statement on Facebook, Afroman said the video recorded punch, seen countless times over the internet, was exaggerated by media.
He apologized to the unidentified woman and for other past misconduct with his fans. The one-time Grammy nominee said his tax troubles and two divorces had become overwhelming. “In my frustrating ambitious efforts, The IRS, DEA, lack of security and other pressures in my life have busted my pipes to the point where I have disrespected another human being twice,” he wrote. “I no longer have the desire to perform for people. I will continue to record. I will continue to make albums. I will continue to make videos. I will continue to make movies.”
