JACKSON, Miss. – The U.S. Supreme Court could be deciding on whether or not to block a ban on Mississippi’s abortion law. Wednesday, Attorney General Jim hood filed papers for an appeal after judges at the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the ban last year.
The law went into effect in 2012, requiring the state’s only abortion clinic to get admitting privileges to local hospitals which the Jackson Women’s Health Organization was not able to obtain.
Federal courts argue the state’s law would put the burden of a constitutional right onto another state.
