OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. – A toddler’s call to 911, because he couldn’t wake his mother, has led to her arrest and three men also being taken in custody.
Police reacting to the call said they found all five of them in a motel room with illegal drugs. The child’s mother, Ashley McDaniel, 26, was charged with child neglect and possession of marijuana. Two of the men, Timothy Fairbanks and Kristopher Wales, were charged with possession of a controlled substance. And the third man, Dustin Yates, was charged with possession of paraphernalia.
The four grown-ups are in the Ocean Springs jail. The three-year-old boy was turned over to the Mississippi Department of Human Services.
