PANOLA CO. Miss. – Friends, family and supporters of Jessica Chambers have several events planned this weekend to celebrate what would have been her 20th birthday.
Chambers, who was born February 2, was found burning alive in rural Panola County late last year. She was rushed to a Memphis hospital where she eventually died.
Her family plans to hold a candle light vigil and balloon release at Sardis Lake Baptist Church, January 31 at 5 p.m. Organizers said Chambers’ parents will set free 20 balloons, each symbolic of her age if she were alive. Supporters will be encouraged to do the same gesture.
Nearly two months now into the search for her killer, the call for Justice has grown dramatically on social media. It’s expected that many of those ardent advocates from across the country will also travel to Panola County in honor of Chamber’s birthday.
The group “People Demanding Justice for Jessica” has scheduled a Justice for Jessica March and Rally at noon Sunday February 1st in Batesville to highlight her life, and its demand for the arrest of the young woman’s killer(s).
