MADISON, Ms–City of Madison Police officer Alecia Yount was found dead this morning.
Officer Yount was off duty at the time and was found by the side of the road in a Madison neighborhood. Yount’s body was discovered by an on-duty patrolman around 5:20am Thursday with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Yount was lying next to the driver side of a car.
Yount was a six-year veteran of the Madison County Police Department. No funeral arrangements have been made, but grief counselors are at the police department for officers. There will be a statement from the police chief today at 3pm.
