ST. MARTIN, Miss. – Jackson County authorities have arrested the person they believe stole money that had been donated to a wheelchair bicycle race. Kelly Skok is charged with misdemeanor petty larceny.
Investigators said she walked into the St. Martin Sicily’s Pizza restaurant and asked for an employment application. They say she was later seen on surveillance video leaving the business and returning with a jacket on her arm. According to the sheriff’s department, Skok came back to the counter, put the donation jar under the jacket and left. While it had been reported that the jar contained about $300 in donations, investigators said there was less than $20 in it.
If convicted, Skok could get six months in jail.
