JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi’s unemployment rate for October is 7.3 percent, a slight drop of August’s rate of 7.4 percent. The numbers were released Tuesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
Fifth-six counties had rates higher than the state average, with 18 of those in the double digits. The counties with the highest rates were Clay, 15.1 percent, followed by Noxubee at 14. 1 and Holmes at 13.5.
Only three counties had rates at or below five percent, with Rankin being the lowest at 4.6 percent.
