ETHEL, Miss.–Ethel is a fairly quiet town about six miles njortheast of Kosciusko on Hwy. 12. The relative peace of the town was shaken Sunday night about 10 when an explosion rocked the area for several miles. Turns out, it was Shawn Manning’s house.
The explosion hit him in the chest and sent him to the hospital by helicopter, Sheriff Tim Nail told media.
Manning was working on “some kind of device” when it exploded. Exactly what that device was, authorities are not discussing it.
Nail said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has been called in, along with several other agencies.
