JACKSON, Miss.– From parades to wreath laying ceremonies and even discounted meals, people all across Mississippi paused Tuesday to honor America’s veterans.
“If it hadn’t been for the veterans, we wouldn’t have this freedom today. So this day is very, very, very important to me,” said Clarence Gray, who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. “We went to war for this country and should be recognized.”
Willie Lindsey also served in the Korean War, but with the U.S. Air Force. He now hopes the accolades and honors bestowed upon Vets will extend beyond Veteran’s Day. “Especially at VA hospitals. Because it’s sad to see how people treat veterans when they are old, can’t get around and can’t hardly hear. It make tears come out of your eyes. I hope it will be better for the veterans coming home now so they can get good service.”
