INDIANOLA, Miss.–An incident Friday night in Indianola following the Yazoo City High School v. Gentry High football game is being investigated by Yazoo and Indianola officials and the Mississippi High School Activities Assoc. There were injuries to Yazoo students when rocks or other objects were thrown at the buses.
“There was an incident at the ball game,” said Yazoo Superintendent Dr. Arthur Cartlidge. “Some of our windows were broken out of our buses and a couple of our students received some injury during that ball game. Right now it’s under investigation.”
It was homecoming for Gentry.
“There were some bricks thrown or something thrown,” said MHSAA Assoc. Director of Athletics Ricky Neese. He said an investigation has been opened.
Concerned parents headed to the Yazoo City central office Monday, demanding justice for the hurt students.
“We have contacted the principals of both schools and asked for incident reports and any and all video of the incident,” said the MHSAA in a statement Monday. “Once we review all available materials, information and interviews, we will complete our investigation and decide what actions, if any, will be taken against the offenders and possibly the school or schools.”
